• Variation in temperature.
• Closed ends on the tubing.
• Differential of temperature between inside and outside walls.
• Surface scratches.
• Defects in the glass.
• The finish on the tube ends
• Residual thermal strain
• Length of the tube.
• How the glass is clamped or fixed in position.
